Product Overview

The short version

A 640x512 thermal scope with a 45mm lens, a 900 yard laser rangefinder mounted inline with the bore, and a ballistic calculator that uses the range it just took.

Two 21700 batteries ship in the box, which is where the 20 plus hours comes from. Most thermals in this class give you one battery and a wish.

Built for the long night

The Riddik is a hog and predator scope. The 640x512 core at 12 micron pitch with a NETD under 25mK gives you enough thermal contrast to tell a sow from a boar at distance instead of squinting at two warm blobs. The 45mm objective is heavily curved, which pulls in the light a bigger lens would while still letting you run medium-height rings and keep a normal cheek weld.

Base magnification is 2.6x with 2x, 4x, and 8x digital on top, so you top out around 20x. Six palettes, eight reticle styles in five colors, and ten saved profiles, which matters if you swap the scope between rifles.

Inline rangefinder

Sits directly in line with the bore rather than off to one side, so there is no reticle offset to correct for. Good to 900 yards.

Ballistic calculator

Takes the range the scope just measured and gives you the hold. No dialing off a card by red light with a hog walking away from you.

Two batteries in the box

Two rechargeable 21700 cells, 10 plus hours each. It also takes an 18650, and it will run off an external pack if you would rather.

Records and streams

Onboard video and audio recording plus Wi-Fi to the BA Global Defense Connect app on iOS and Android. Watch live, adjust settings, save the footage.

Active turret

Zoom and menu navigation both live on the turret, so you dial and press instead of hunting for a button with a gloved hand. Everything else sits under your thumb: color palette, rangefinder, picture-in-picture, and video are each a short press, with a long press for the second function.

Where it sits in the lineup

At 30 ounces with a 45mm lens, the Riddik is a rifle scope and it is not pretending otherwise. If you want something to carry and glass with, a handheld thermal monocular is the tool for that. If you are shopping the 640 class generally, the thermal scope buyer's guide lays out how the sensors compare.

Questions people actually ask

How far can it actually range?

900 yards on the laser rangefinder. Because it is mounted inline with the bore instead of offset to the side, you are not correcting for parallax between where it ranged and where the reticle sits.

How long does the battery really last?

Over 10 hours on one 21700, and two of them come in the box, so a full night is not a question. It also accepts an 18650 if that is what you already stock, and it will run off an external power pack over USB-C.

Does it record and connect to my phone?

Yes to both. Onboard video and audio recording, plus Wi-Fi to the BA Global Defense Connect app for iOS and Android for a live view, remote settings, and saving footage to your phone.

What is the ballistic calculator for?

It takes the distance the rangefinder just measured and works out your holdover, so the correction happens in the scope instead of in your head. Ten profiles means you can keep a different load or rifle saved for each setup.

Will it work in rain and cold?

IP67 in a 6061 aviation aluminum housing, rated from -20°C to 60°C. Thermal also cuts through fog and light rain better than glass does, which is most of the reason to own one.

Can I use it during the day?

Yes. Thermal reads heat rather than light, so daylight is fine. We wrote up the details on using a thermal scope during the day.
