Regular or XL
The two sizes trade footprint for weight. A bigger platform gives you more room to move your feet and is easier on long sits. A smaller one packs lighter on long walks. Compare the dimensions and weights on each listing against how far you walk in and how you like to stand.
Most hunters carry the platform on their back with the rest of the setup. The GRIT Platform Pack on the saddle hunting backpacks page is built around that job. Pair the platform with climbing sticks for saddle hunting to get up the tree.
Saddle Platform FAQs
Do I need a platform to saddle hunt?
No. Some hunters stand on a top step or a ring of steps. A platform gives more room for your feet and is the most common choice.
Will a saddle platform work as a tree stand?
A saddle platform is built to be used while you are in a saddle and connected to the tree. Use it the way the manufacturer describes and do not treat it as a stand to sit on.
