Deer Feeders

Deer feeders and feeder kits from Moultrie and American Hunter, from a ready-to-hang 50 lb spin feeder to timer kits that turn a barrel you already own into a feeder. Pick a kit with Bluetooth or cellular control if you want to change feed times from your phone, or go gravity and skip the batteries entirely.

Also shop deer feeder accessories, minerals and attractants, and trail cameras to watch the site.

A deer feeder does something a food plot cannot. It puts feed in the exact spot you choose, on a schedule you set, which is how a camera site becomes a pattern and a pattern becomes a hunt. Gravity feeders trickle steadily and never need batteries. Spin feeders throw on a timer, so deer learn the hour and show up for it.

Which feeder for your setup

  • Ready to hang. The American Hunter 50 lb hanging feeder is the only complete feeder here: a metal hopper in Realtree AP with an analog clock timer, feeds 1 to 24 times a day, a 1 to 30 second throw, and a built-in varmint guard. Add a 6-volt battery, which is sold separately.
  • Change feed times from your phone. The Moultrie All-In-One kit sets up to 4 feed times over Bluetooth. The Moultrie Feed Hub kit uses a cellular timer with up to 10 feed times, so you can adjust it without walking in and leaving scent on the trail.
  • Throw feed one direction. The Moultrie Pro Hunter III is a directional kit, useful when you want feed landing in front of a camera or a shooting lane instead of in a circle.
  • No batteries at all. The Moultrie gravity feeder kit lets deer pull feed as they eat, with nothing to program and nothing to go dead mid-season.

Height, timing, and the law

Hang the barrel high enough that deer reach up slightly and raccoons work for it, and expect to fight raccoons anyway. Two short feeds around first and last light beat one long one, since a five-second spin scattering corn draws deer without dumping a pile that rots.

Check your state and county rules before you fill anything. In Missouri, counties inside the CWD Management Zone ban grain, salt, minerals, and other deer attractants year-round, and the county list changes. Missouri also does not allow hunting deer over bait, so a feeder on your hunting ground is a scouting and herd tool, not a stand setup. Read the current MDC CWD zone rules before the season.

Deer feeder FAQs

What is a feeder kit?

A kit is the motor, timer, and spinner (or gravity port) without the container. You mount it to a barrel or bucket you supply, which is usually the cheapest way to get a working feeder.

Gravity or spin feeder?

Gravity feeders are simple and battery-free but let deer and everything else eat whenever they want. Spin feeders cost more to run, ration the feed, and train deer to a schedule you can plan a camera check around.

Do these feeders include a battery?

The American Hunter hanging feeder does not; it needs a 6-volt battery, available in our feeder accessories along with solar chargers and replacement timers. Check each Moultrie listing for its power requirements.
