Start With the Parts Kit
A Pulsator that runs but moves less water than it used to is usually a clogged filter cap or a cracked gasket, not a failed motor. Higdon sells the wear items as one kit, which is cheaper than most people expect.

The Pulsator kit works with all Pulsator PRO Series products. The Swimmer kit only fits PRO Series Swimmers, so match the kit to the decoy rather than assuming they cross over.

The 2023 XS Series Battery Recall
On March 30, 2023, Higdon Outdoors recalled lithium-ion battery packs used in XS Series motion decoys, along with XS replacement battery packs, through the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. The packs can overheat while charging or shortly after, which is a fire and burn hazard.
How to identify one: the recalled batteries carry a sticker whose top line reads "Sun Li-ion Battery". Affected units span XS Pulsators, Swimmers, Crazy Kicker, and Flasher decoys, with model numbers in the 50033 to 99117 range.
What to do: stop using the pack, contact Higdon Outdoors for a free replacement battery and charger, and dispose of the old pack at a battery disposal center. Higdon publishes the claim form on its recall page.
Two things worth being clear about. The recall covered roughly 45,000 units in the United States and about 500 in Canada, following twenty reports of overheating and nine fires. It is not a small advisory. And it applies to the XS generation, not the PRO Series that replaced it.
Every Higdon battery and charger Double D Hunting carries is PRO Series, so nothing in our catalog is part of the recall. If you own an older XS decoy, check the sticker before you charge it again.
What Usually Goes Wrong
- Weak spray, motor still running. Filter cap or agitator tube. Both are in the $14.99 parts kit.
- Nothing at all, battery reads charged. On an XS unit, check whether the charging cord is connected. It should not be.
- Runs short of the rated hours. Lithium packs fade with age and heat. A pack that lived in a hot truck box for two summers is a likely suspect.
- Water in the housing. The PRO motor and battery housing are IPX7 rated, so check the pipe gasket first, since that is the part that wears.
