3/8" or 11mm dovetail
Many rimfires and airguns have grooves cut into the top of the receiver instead of screw holes for a base. The two common sizes are 3/8" and 11mm. They are close but not the same, and the wrong ring will not clamp properly. Warne's 7.3/22 rings and most of its Vapor rings fit either size. Weaver Grand Slam .22 rings, UTG, TruGlo and Traditions rings are 3/8".
Picatinny bases for rimfires
If you want to run Picatinny rings or a red dot, add a base. EGW makes CZ 457 and CZ 452/453/455/511 bases for 11mm grooves, in 0 and 20 MOA. Warne's Mountain Tech Rail for the CZ 457 is 15 MOA. Warne, EGW and Ruger all make Ruger American Rimfire bases, and Ruger's Precision Rimfire base is 30 MOA.
Adapters
Weaver's Tip-Off Base Converter and TruGlo's mounting adapter turn a 3/8" dovetail into a Weaver-style rail, so you can use standard rings or a red dot. The Sako/Tikka Optilock base fits 11mm rimfire grooves.
Frequently asked questions
How do I tell a 3/8" from an 11mm dovetail?
Your owner's manual will say. If not, measure across the top of the dovetail. 3/8" is about 9.5mm, and 11mm is wider.
Can I put 30mm rings on a .22?
Yes. Warne's 7.3/22 rings and UTG's airgun/rimfire rings come in 30mm for dovetail receivers.
Do airgun rings work on a rimfire?
The UTG and TruGlo rings here are listed for both airguns and rimfires on a 3/8" dovetail.
