Blinds
Our duck blinds lean toward fields and marsh edges: layout blinds from Higdon, Alps Outdoorz and Ducks Unlimited, the Higdon H-Frame panel blind, MOmarsh VersaBlind and InvisiMan, plus snow covers and replacement frames. Choose by where you hunt. Lying flat in a cut cornfield and standing on a flooded ditch are different problems, and the right blind for one is wrong for the other.

Layout Blind or Panel Blind
A layout blind is a low, coffin-shaped frame you lie in, with doors that open when you sit up to shoot. It is the standard goose blind for open fields because it puts a hunter below the skyline in a place with no cover at all. The shelf carries the Higdon Quick Draw and Hot Shot layouts, the Alps Outdoorz and Ducks Unlimited Zero-Gravity and Legend layout blinds, and MOmarsh's ATX InvisiLay.
A panel blind stands up. The Higdon H-Frame Panel Blind is the panel option here. Panels suit marsh edges and river bars where there is some natural cover to tie into. MOmarsh's VersaBlind and InvisiMan, and the Alpha Waterfowl Blind, round out the shelf; each listing explains its own setup, so read those before you choose.
Fitting a Layout Blind to Your Body
The most common layout blind complaint is fit. A blind that is too short pins your boots against the foot end, and one that is too narrow makes sitting up to shoot slow and loud. Check the listed interior dimensions against your height and shoulder width, and wear your actual hunting layers when you test it at home. A layout blind pillow adds a little comfort for long waits, and MOmarsh sells a Short Leg Kit (match it to your blind model).
Low field chairs are the other way to hunt open ground. The Migrator Field Chair and Snow Goose Chair live on our duck hunting chairs page. A chair is easier to move than a blind, which helps on spring snow goose hunts when you are chasing the birds.
Snow Covers, Lids and Grass
A blind that matches September stubble sticks out on a white December field. Snow covers fix that: the shelf has covers for the Zero-Gravity, Legend and ATX InvisiLay. Match the cover name to your blind name before ordering. Higdon's RagTop Blind Lids and the MOmarsh grass products give you more ways to blend in, and the full set of duck blind accessories is one shelf down.
Stubble from the field itself is still the best camouflage, so plan to brush your blind in on site. A good spread of silhouette decoys or full-bodies pulls eyes away from the hide too.
Replacement Frames and Parts
MOmarsh sells individual frames and brackets for its Invisiman and Invisilay blinds: upper, middle and lower leg frames, head rest brackets, a head rest support bar and a door frame. If a frame bends on the drag out of a field, replace the part and keep the blind. Order by the blind model printed in the part name.
Duck Blind FAQs
What is the difference between a duck blind and a goose blind?
Mostly the setting. Goose hunting happens in open fields, so a goose blind is usually a layout blind. Duck hunting happens more often on water, where hunters use panel blinds, boat blinds or natural cover. Many layouts serve both, especially in fields where ducks and geese feed together. Pair either with the right goose calls and spread.
Do layout blinds need extra grass?
Usually. Most layout blinds have stubble straps or loops to hold local vegetation. Grass sheets help when the field itself offers little to work with.
Will a snow cover fit my blind?
Snow covers on this page are named for the blind they fit (Zero-Gravity, Legend, ATX InvisiLay). Buy the cover that matches your blind model.
