Choosing Duck Hunting Waders
Duck hunting waders come down to two decisions. Neoprene is warmer and suits late-season ice. Breathable fabric is lighter and suits early teal and long walks, with layers underneath when it turns cold. Bootfoot waders have the boot built in, which is quicker to pull on in the dark. Stockingfoot waders pair with separate wading boots and usually fit and walk better. Match the choice to the water you hunt and how far you walk to get there.
Gear That Rides With Your Waders
Wet waders thrown in a truck bed make a long ride home. A dedicated bag keeps the mud contained, and our wader bag page has the Alps Outdoorz option. Shell belts and wader shell clips keep shells at hand without digging into a blind bag. Layer under your waders with hunting bibs or pants, top them with rain gear, and stash hand warmers in a chest pocket. A dry bag keeps phone and keys safe when the water is deeper than you planned.
