M-LOK Bipods

M-LOK bipods bolt straight into the slots on an AR-15 handguard or chassis rifle, with no rail section in between. That keeps the bipod low, light and solid. Everything here mounts directly to M-LOK, from compact prone bipods to taller hunting models.

Why mount directly to M-LOK

You can put a short Picatinny rail on an M-LOK handguard and clamp a bipod to that, and plenty of people do. Mounting straight to the slots cuts out a part, a few ounces and a little height, and it removes one more joint that can work loose. On a hunting AR carried through the woods, fewer parts means less to rattle.

AR-15 bipods for hunting

Most current AR-15 handguards are M-LOK, which makes this the default bipod mount for the platform. Hog and coyote hunters shooting at night from a field edge or a truck bed get the most out of one, especially with the added weight of a thermal or night vision scope out front. A 6 to 9 inch bipod suits prone. Taller models reach sitting height for shooting over crops and brush.

Installing an M-LOK bipod

Pick a slot position that leaves room for your support hand and keeps the legs clear of anything mounted under the handguard. Start the T-nuts, rotate them into the slot, and tighten to the torque the bipod maker specifies. Check it again after the first range session. If the bipod is quick-detach, confirm the mount is centered on the bore so the rifle doesn't sit canted when you set it down.

Quick-detach M-LOK bipods

Some M-LOK bipods leave a small adapter on the handguard and let the bipod snap on and off. That is handy if you want the rifle slick for carrying and the bipod on only when you set up to shoot.

M-LOK bipod FAQs

Will an M-LOK bipod fit a KeyMod handguard?

No. M-LOK and KeyMod use different slot shapes. KeyMod needs a KeyMod bipod or an adapter.

What is the best bipod height for an AR-15?

6 to 9 inches for prone shooting. If you run a 30-round magazine and shoot prone, a bipod toward the taller end of that range gives the magazine room to clear the ground.

Can I move an M-LOK bipod between rifles?

Yes, if both rifles have M-LOK handguards. A quick-detach model makes that faster.
