Choke Tubes

Shotgun choke tubes only work in the thread they were cut for, so start with your gun. Shop by system with Benelli chokes, Beretta chokes, Browning Invector Plus chokes and Remington chokes, or by what you hunt with turkey choke tubes and waterfowl choke tubes. Every product name lists gauge, constriction and thread.

Find your choke thread first

A choke tube that does not match your barrel's thread will not seat, and forcing it is how barrels get ruined. Every tube here names its system at the end of the product name: Remington Rem Choke, Browning Invector, Invector Plus or Invector DS, Beretta/Benelli Mobil, Benelli Crio Plus, Beretta Optima HP, Mossberg Accu-Choke or Accu-Mag, Winchoke and a few others. If you are not sure which one your gun takes, the owner's manual names it, and the tube that shipped with the gun is the best template you have.

Constriction, from cylinder to turkey

Constriction is how much the tube squeezes the shot column at the muzzle. Cylinder and skeet throw the widest patterns for close targets. Improved cylinder and modified are the everyday hunting middle. Full and extra full hold the pattern together at distance. Turkey tubes go tighter still and are usually listed by exit diameter, such as .665 in 12 gauge or .565 in 20 gauge, where a smaller number means a tighter squeeze.

Flush, extended and ported

Flush tubes sit even with the muzzle. Extended tubes stick out past it, which makes them easy to change by hand and adds length for a longer taper. Ported tubes are drilled near the end to bleed gas and tame muzzle jump, which you will notice most with heavy turkey and waterfowl loads.

Cases, lube and tools

Keep the spares organized with MTM, Carlson's, Beretta and Browning choke tube cases, and keep them from seizing with Carlson's choke tube lube. A dry thread in a cold blind is how a tube gets stuck for good.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which choke tubes fit my shotgun?

Match the thread system first, then the gauge. Your owner's manual names the system, and many barrels are marked. Each product name here ends with the system it fits.

What choke should I use for turkey hunting?

A dedicated turkey tube matched to your shell. See the turkey choke tubes collection, and pattern it at the distance you plan to shoot.

What choke is best for duck hunting?

Over decoys, improved cylinder or modified is a common starting point. Pass shooting and geese usually call for something tighter. The waterfowl choke tubes page breaks it down by range.

Can I shoot steel shot through any choke tube?

No. Several turkey and extra full tubes here are rated for lead or high-density shot only. Check the product details before running steel through any tube.
