Most travel rods have a flat spot where the sections meet, and you feel it the moment a fish loads the blank. A saltwater travel rod should not fish like a compromise. Phenix built the Redeye specifically to get rid of that, so the power and action carry through the joints instead of stopping at them. The blanks are 40 ton graphite with SiC guides and Alps aluminum reel seats, and each rod ships in a felt-lined hard case, which is the part that makes it an actual travel rod rather than a rod you happen to travel with.
